Literacy and Learning Specialist:  Hamptons, NY (2007-Present): Preschool - Grade 10

  • Conduct private instruction for children of acclaimed celebrities and actors
  • Tutor students who attend private schools in NYC, including special education and alternative schools
  • Use Orton-Gillingham approach for beginning and struggling readers, and for children with language-based learning challenges such as dyslexia or dysgraphia
    •  Provide explicit instruction: phonemic awareness, sound-symbol relationships, (auditory and visual processing), phonics, sounding out words, spelling, fluency
    •  Teach skills in building block fashion so children learn to read words without error, reducing and/or eliminating memorization
    • Once phonics skills are mastered, instruction includes reading comprehension strategies, inferential skills, new vocabulary, and the writing process
  •    Teach children on the autism spectrum
  •     Assist with subject-specific summer assignments
